But here I am, in Africa. This is the true account of my experiences, from my baby eyes.We were so out of culture, it was as if I were playing anthropologist, linguist and self proclaimed philosopher. I had the tendency to observe and analyze everything I lived. In other words, this dancing and drum experience was simply one of many adventures to be lived, breathed and analyzed. The three of us could not believe what we had just witnessed. It was like living an episode of National Geographic or the Nature channel—out of worldly! We were experiencing Mother Africa eyes wide open, our senses sharp and heightened. We were awakened in this far away land centuries from the civilized world we’d come from—America. We hated it, yet we loved it.The land said to us “Welcome to Cameroon,” and we said, “Thank you—Akeva”
